Fundraising - Walk a Mile for Water
Many people in developing countries have to walk long distances to collect water for their households. In an act of solidarity and to raise money for Potters for Peace, hold a Walk a Mile for Water event at your church, school or in your community. After people collect sponsors for the event, they gather at starting point and all walk one mile with 2 empty milk jugs. At the end of the mile walk, their buckets are filled with water and they walk back a mile to the starting line. This walk represents the daily walk of millions of people each day bringing back water to their homes. After the event, the individuals collect their sponsorship funds and send it in to Potter for Peace. The money will support our Water Filter Programs.
Step 1: Download and print the event forms.
Step 2: Hand out sponsorship forms to all participants and have each person collect sponsors for the walk.
(One gallon of water weighs 8.34lbs)
Step 3: Gather participants together at the starting point. Walk for a 1 mile with 2 empty milk jugs to a water station where participants fill their jugs with water and then walk back a mile to the finish line.
Step 4: Collect the money from the sponsors.
Step 5: Send money, application form and additional information into Potters for Peace
